KHULA Education

KHULA Education is based in rural KwaZulu-Natal, with a mission to ensure that every child, no matter where they are born, has access to quality education and real opportunities for the future. Working across 22 government schools, KHULA supports more than 6 500 children and young people each year, from preschool through to employment.

Our integrated programmes focus on early childhood development, classroom support in maths and English, teacher development, and youth skills and employment training — including digital literacy and job readiness in a region where youth unemployment exceeds 80%.

Early Childhood Development
Laying the foundations for lifelong learning through four KHULA-run preschools, where children build early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills in nurturing, play-based environments.

Supplementary Teaching (Maths & English)
Providing targeted, in-school support from Grade R to Grade 12, improving outcomes in core subjects and helping students build the confidence and skills needed to succeed.

Educator Development
Strengthening rural teaching through mentorship, collaborative planning, and 30+ hands-on workshops each year. Our Teaching Fellowship trains the next generation of local educators.

Skills & Employment
Equipping rural youth for the future with job readiness training, digital literacy, and Cisco-accredited hubs, creating real pathways to work in communities where opportunity is scarce.
