Founded in 2000 by clinical psychologists Tony and Hillary Hamburger, Ububele is a centre of learning dedicated to enhancing the emotional development and wellbeing of children under seven, as well as their parents and caregivers. The organisation focuses on promoting mental health through the development, testing, and advocacy of low-cost preventative care models and experiential training, specifically tailored for low-resource environments.
Ububele’s programmes are primarily conducted in Alexandra Township. The name Ububele means compassion in Nguni, reflecting the organisation's commitment to public interest psychology.
